London’s relentless R&B boy, an icon in the making
R&B is a genre that’s still dominated by American voices, but London based singer/songwriter Abel Miller is looking to change that. Abel’s been singing most of his life but caught his first taste of stardom in the play, “The Harder They Come” at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. Then, in 2008, Abel and his sisters went on the X-Factor UK and made it to the final six before being eliminated.
11 years on and Abel is older and wiser, but maintains the same strong work ethic that has served him well throughout his career. In fact, he’s released 4 studio albums and countless singles and EPs while featuring across a wide gamut of tracks by UK artists as well.
His most recent project, Private Island was released at the end of 2018 and serves as his homage to what he believes UK R&B can and should be. It’s not just traditional R&B though, he’s peppered African and Caribbean vibes throughout that serve to elevate the songs to a new level. And the effort hasn’t gone unnoticed by the industry as there are rumblings online about potentially game changing opportunities coming off the back of this EP!
